A six month old dog named Hero turned out to be just that in Indiana early in the morning the day after Christmas.
That's when a fire broke out in his owners' home in Lake Station, Indiana.
Hero woke up 4-year-old Noah Boyd by licking his face and Noah woke his mother, Melissa, just in time for them to escape the flames.
The fire destroyed the home and almost killed Hero. Firefighters pulled him from the house and revived him with oxygen.
Hero is making a full recovery. The home did not have a smoke alarm.
