Baby Squirrel's Hand of Kindness

At ten days old, this baby grey squirrel's luck has changed for the better just in time.
Born a month too early, probably because of the mild winter, his home tree was chopped down and he was abandoned by his parents.
But he was spotted before predators could get to him and is being hand fed every two hours at Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Founder Les Stocker said: "Fortunately he was fine apart from a little dehydration and is back to full health now." As yesterday's Daily Mail revealed, the centre is already caring for hundreds of hedgehogs which have been tricked by the weather into coming out of hibernation before the snails and insects on which they depend have themselves emerged.
