Royal Canin Canada has added Sensible Choice Diet and some veterinary-prescribed products to the growing list of recalled pet foods.

The Canadian division of French pet food company Royal Canin says it has recalled five veterinary diet products.

The company has also cut ties with Chinese suppliers of vegetable proteins. The U.S. division announced a similar recall yesterday.

The products listed in today's recall are in the Veterinary Diet line under the names:

A company official says all veterinary clinics have been notified of the recall so they can pass the information on to the pet owners. The official says Sensible Choice Diet is sold only in British Columbia.

Last month, Menu Foods Income Fund recalled pet food after it received reports of kidney failure and death among dogs and cats.
