Garden Gold equips you with the knowledge for a superior space-saving garden wherever there's sunshine. You'll grow more fruits and veggies with less time and effort spent, yet with more taste and nutrition than you ever thought possible. It will spoil you having to eat commercial produce again!
Stan and I have gardened for many years using a variety of techniques. We are convinced that biointensive gardening practiced by the ancient Chinese makes the best sense. Biointensive just means that a lot of food is grown in a small area. Garden Gold shows you how to do it with modern improvements.
Who has time (or inclination) to weed and many of us lack the room for traditional huge gardens. All we want are healthy, flavorful fruits and vegetables with TASTE instead of cardboard imitations.
By using the special Super Soil recipe you won't need tons of fertilizers or chemicals. This greatly reduces one avenue where poisons enter our bodies. Nutrient-rich Super Soil is naturally loose so there's no backbreaking tilling and plants thrive! In Garden Gold 2010, a special ingredient was added to Super Soil's formula. It performs miracles and costs only pennies.
Garden Gold is primarily written for Americans, Canadians, British and Irish audiences, plus Australians and New Zealanders in US and metric measurements, but anyone can use these techniques. Just locate suppliers and climate and hardiness zone maps for your country and you're good to go.
Garden Gold lists over 500 suppliers with their contact information and websites. You'll spend less time hunting for open-pollinated seeds and supplies, which leaves you more time to get your plants going.
Access to open-pollination seeds is especially important when you see how completely 6 companies have taken over most of the world's supply. A full-size, high resolution image of the Seed Industry pictured below is included in Garden Gold. You can see just how bad this problem is and which companies to avoid.
There's no time to waste in starting seeds and to get your beds ready especially since this is going to be a hotter-than-normal summer for much the U.S., clear into 2018.
Garden Gold is filled with over 230 photos and easy to understand instructions. It takes you from seed starting on through harvest. It's filled with dozens of time-saving tips and plenty of information how to foil foul weather and beat bad bugs. It also shows you clever ways that lets you start gardens early and extend them for several months into cold weather. It's written in plain English so even those who've never grown a tomato will find it easy to do.
Twenty-seven chapters and 16 Appendices in the handy click-to Table of Contents give you everything you need to know for an outstanding garden.
If you plant an extra bed, you'll have plenty of produce for canning and to share with neighbors, or to sell for added income. When friends taste your vine-ripened veggies and see you've made extra cash in the process, they'll want to mine their own Garden Gold!
Changes to the 2017 edition
All links, resources and contact details have been verified and updated. In the intervening years since the 2014 update, some companies have gone out of business, traded in their website for a Facebook only presence, new companies have come on stream and yet other businesses now include non-hybrid and/or organics choices. Now you have over 150 more resources than in the 2014 edition giving you well over 500 companies for seeds, composting worms and supplies, shade cloth and rock dust.
In addition to the U.S. and Canada, Plant Hardiness Zone Maps have been included for the UK and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Ditto for Frost Date Maps for UK, Ireland and Australia. All information contained in the body of Garden Gold has also been updated. The core information on growing bio-intensively remains unchanged, but the entire book has been upgraded and expanded.
The primary reason Garden Gold is presented as an e-Book is it allows timely updates for seed suppliers, worm castings, rock dust and other resources provided. As economic times have grown tighter, companies have changed locations, cut out website presences and still others have changed their web address and contact details. A lot has changed since the 2014 edition. To keep this information current demands this book is not in hard cover.
Updates of future editions are free to purchasers of the 2010, 2012 or 2014 e-book. Just login with your email and password account to our shopping cart. Skip to the bottom of the description and follow the instructions to open your e-book file.
