REASON TO BELIEVE

At 13, the idea of aliens, little green men residing on Mars or some place even more exotic sounded pretty cool. I was moderately convinced there had to be other life forms out there. Thirty some years ago, this was not mainstream thinking. Today many people accept the idea there probably is life elsewhere.

According to a recent poll in USA Today, fully 83% of those responding say the reason they support missions to Mars is to search for life. A brave 65% stretch their exploring toes even further thinking Mars might one day be their new home. This infers that not only do Americans feel that extensive space travel is desirable, it might provide the opportunity to meet galactic neighbors.

If one agrees with the findings of this second poll, contrary to the notion that proof of other life forms would shatter people's religious beliefs and destroy the foundations of many institutions, people want extraterrestrials to exist.

In fact, this May 9, 2000 survey shows two-thirds of Americans believe ET life exists in our or other galaxies and that it will be discovered in the 21st century. That could be now.

This last USA Today poll shows more men believe aliens exist than do women. The stats don't exactly tie with those in their other poll but certainly underscore the belief that there is life elsewhere.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BAD GUYS?

The idea that aliens may not come in peace has permeated the film industry for five decades. In the early 50s, The Thing depicted a single alien wrecking havoc on humans. War of The Worlds, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Invaders, the TV mini-series
"V" and "V: The Final Battle", Alien and its various sequels, and Predator followed suit showing what off-world nasties could do to Earthlings. Independence Day explored a terrifyingly realistic tale of city-sized alien craft invading Earth's major cities. One by one global megacities were demolished paralyzing the planet with fear.

Aliens attack and destroy New York City in Independence Day

Despite blockbuster Independence Day's, "in-your-face" warning, the public's overall attitude toward aliens has softened. In recent years, many people have come to view those living off our planet as "friendlies" and potential "saviors".

It's in vogue now and sophisticated to promote aliens as our "space brothers". (That little "gray" over there is Cousin Elmer. Aren't I open-minded? [Yes, to the point where your brain fell out.])

Several years ago, the Ground Crew Project and Sheldon Nidle used to be affiliated. Along the way, a few members of the organization got crosswise and they split. His website then took on the identity of the Planetary Activation Organization http://www.paoweb.com/index.html. The following is typical of PAO beliefs.

"BALONEY" ALERT

In August 1997 Sheldon Nidle put out a paper, An Urgent Message to Humanity. Here are a couple choice paragraphs explaining how they see your future:

"Imminent Earth Changes And How They Will Affect You
"The planet is about to enter into a complete state of emergency. When Earth's birthing process fully begins, you will need to be in a safe place. The Galactic Federation, which is sent to us by God, is fully prepared to move you to either a 'holographic environment' or to a temporary residence aboard one of their star ships.

"Due to the global magnitude of the Earth changes, many of you may have to be evacuated by space ships. There are currently millions of these ships waiting around the planet to take people from various parts of the Earth to live temporarily in holograms on large mother ships. These ships are presently cloaked, but will become visible at the appropriate time. You will live in these holograms on the mother ships until the Earth's holographic environments are complete.

"Our friends from other planets have highly advanced scientific and technical capabilities by which they can create holograms (energy fields of light) that will exactly replicate your present home. The sun, moon and weather patterns will appear the same as you have known them and you will have housing, food, clothing and all you need to survive.

"There will be no homelessness and no poverty. You will not have to go to work, pay bills or taxes, do housework, grow, cook or buy food. Replicators, like in the TV series "Star Trek", will provide your food and clothing. Everything you need in order to live will be provided for you until you are returned to Mother Earth."1

Apart from this message falling into the category of total
B.S., it is particularly irksome since it encourages people to abandon all personal responsibility.

Those looking for an easy way out will be heartened by the thought of not having to work, pay bills or provide for their own needs. It is purely irresponsible to put forth a message like this under any circumstance. It makes people more vulnerable to the dictates of others (in this scenario, on the largesse of aliens) than if they were even partly self-sufficient. No thanks; we'll pass.

FEEL GOODIES

In Contact, Jodie Foster is met by an alien
who assumes the form of her deceased
dad to make the first contact easier.

Hollywood has served up numerous "feel good" movies about nonhumans, those "benevolent off-world visitors". Taken, The Day The Earth Stood Still, My Favorite Martian, Forbidden Planet, Cocoon, Cocoon - The Return, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., The Abyss, Flight of the Navigator, Battlestar Galactica, Starman and Contact all inspired warm fuzzy feelings toward our "space brothers".

In fact, as you can see in the E.T. photo above, a subliminal suggestion is made in the poster. The extended alien hand visually equates to the hand of God as shown in Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel painting where the hand of God reaches out to Adam below.... Even the alien hand here in Contact is extended to comfort mankind's representative.

But are they really our friends? That is the question we must all examine and soon. The time is close approaching with UFO sightings worldwide at an all-time high when the truth can no longer be ignored or concealed. It seems that whoever is at the helm of these numerous and varied craft is no longer as concerned about hiding their comings and goings.

Why not?

The answer to that question Dr. David M. Jacobs may have unwittingly and unwillingly uncovered through 35+ years of research.
